Winners of the Weekend Box Office Race- 9/5

'The Help' won the race for the third week in a row. This should come as a surprise to nobody who reads my blog. As I mentioned on Friday, this week's offerings were thin. 'The Help' had to compete with two "frightening" movies in 'Shark Night 3D' and 'Apollo 18'. Coming in at number two was 'The Debt', a film starring Helen Mirren and Sam Worthington, written by Matthew Vaughn, and directed by John Madden. This movie could have had a better release if it had any press at all. Am I the only one who heard nothing about this film?

Winners of the Weekend Box Office Race- 8/22

Nobody won this weekend. It was a disappointing weekend for Hollywood. 'The Help' topped off the list with $20.5 million, but Hollywood should be embarrassed considering 'The Help is in its second week of release. This means that the box office gross is down 25% from last week.

What strikes me about this list is 'Conan the Barbarian.' It pulled in $10 million dollars in its first week, which would be okay if its budget weren't $90 million. Why did it cost so much? I guarantee you most people could not name one person involved with this project (unless they have access to Google). 'RotPotA' cost $93 million to make in comparison. Conan is a huge flop which is disappointing.

Here is the list without further a do.

Winners of the Weekend Box Office Race- 8/15

'Apes' win out again. For the second weekend in a row, 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' won the weekend bringing in $27,500,000. What baffles me about this weekend is that 'The Help' came out during the week. Why? What? What? Why? Anyways, I am glad to see 'Rise' getting deserved attention and 'Glee The 3D Concert Movie' was less attended than a Harvey Danger reunion concert. For your viewing pleasure I have posted the Harvey Danger classic "Flagpole Sitta" below.
