Sports Update- Eagles Loading Up

According to my sources (if you follow my blog you know who they are), the Eagles have agreed to a one-year deal with ex-Giant wide receiver Steve Smith. Smith is coming off a season-ending knee injury from last year. The Eagles expect Smith to contribute early even though Giant's Coach Tom Coughlin begs to differ.
Smith visited with the Giants Monday and Tuesday, including an examination of his knee. Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Smith still had "a ways to go" before being healthy enough to play again.
The Eagles are starting to turn into a version of their Madden video-game selves. They are scrolling down the free agency list and plucking up any big name player they can. You can see the salivation dripping from Andy Reid's mouth (normally reserved for fried chicken and gravy) for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

On a personal note: Thanks for the shout-out from Greg Auman on his blog. Auman is the USF beat reporter for the St. Petersburg Times and he does an excellent job. I followed his blog religiously while at USF and he seemed to know things about the team before I did. Check it out here.
