What to Watch Tonight: Who Shot JR?

Like I said earlier this week, I am just getting back into the swing of things, so bear with me if I am late on posts. I will put up the That's My Boy review tomorrow, but until then here is "What to Watch Tonight."

Top 100 Video Games of All Time (G4)- Another day of the top games. Personally, I haven't watched this. I am just waiting for the full list to be posted online. When that happens, I will pass it on.

Property Brothers (HGTV)- If you have a serious relationship you should know all about the "Property Brothers" and HGTV in general. If you aren't in a serious relationship, you can watch this to pretend you are.

Adam Richman's Best Sandwich in America (Travel)- Mmmm...sandwiches!

The Soup (E!)- For the sandwiches. This is a scheduled series on my DVR.

Dallas (TNT)- Um, I guess. If you are in to that sort of thing. I don't get it, but then again I was too young to appreciate/remember "Who shot JR?"

Netflix: Sherlock- If you aren't too busy watching Workaholics or searching for the second season, I hear Sherlock is a good show.

What to Watch Tonight- Tight Butthole

This is my first real post back, so I have to knock some rust off. Bear with me. (Get it! Oh, god. What am I doing?) Anyways, I will be back tomorrow with my review of the Adam Sandler/Andy Samberg pic, That's My Boy.

NBA Finals: Game 1- Heat vs Thunder (ABC)- Gotta go with the Thunder. I can't stand the Heat or LeBron.

American Ninja Warrior (NBC)- Always fun to watch, although it would go better with more balls flying at competitors faces in the same vein as Wipeout.

Barter Kings (A&E)- This shows is aimed at all of you Storage Wars fans out there. It reminds me of the story of the guy who traded a paperclip for a house. (I am too lazy to link it, just Google it.)

Top 100 Video Games of All Time (G4)- Let the debates begin.

Netflix Pick: Workaholics- I didn't realize how "tight butthole" this show was until recently. Grab some popcorn and get yourselves acquainted with the boys of Workaholics.

What to Watch Tonight: Weekend Edition

Karaoke Battle USA (ABC)- Friday. I didn't realize this is a show, but I guarantee you that this show is done too professionally. This would be watchable if it were filmed during happy hour at a Japanese Saki bar.

Man, Woman, Wild (Discovery)- Friday.  I don't watch this show, but if last week's enema tells me anything it may be worth a watch.

Mel Brooks and Dick Cavett Together Again (HBO)- Friday. Two great funny men talk about people that most do not know about. It's probably a good thing that this is on a Friday night. I still will DVR it, though. I love Mel Brooks. He could read a dictionary and I would still watch it.

9/11 Specials (Multiple Networks)- Take your pick. This Sunday marks the 10 year anniversary and most networks will be airing specials all day. It shouldn't be hard to find one.

NCAA/NFL Football (Multiple Networks)- Saturday/Sunday. It is Fall again, so get comfortable and watch some football.

Netflix: The Hudsucker Proxy- A Coen brothers movie with co-writing credits going to Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spiderman). Tim Robbins and Jennifer Jason Leigh star in this visually stunning and at times cartoonish, comedy about a business student who stumbles into becoming the president of a major company.

What to Watch Tonight- Pigskin

Big Brother (CBS)- Another eviction tonight. Kalia was evicted last night and Adam won Head of Household. We are now down to four and tonight will make it three. Who will go home?

CBS Fall Preview (CBS)- What is the point of this? This is basically a 30 minute preview for upcoming shows. Why?

NFL Football: Saints at Packers (NBC)- Are you ready for some football? Crack open a cold beverage,  grab some pizza and wings, and sit down for some 'Project Runway.'

Project Runway (Lifetime)- Tonight's episode is a 90 minute ad for HP, but I am sure it will be "Fabulous!"

Wilfred/Louie (FX)- Season finales. THese are the two shows that I should have been watching this summer. I have started season 1 of 'Louie' and it is great. I will catch up on Louie when it comes to Netfilx and hopefully 'Wilfred' will be on Netflix so I can start that.

Netflix: Repo Man- So I was looking for a movie on Netflix when this guy turns around and tips his hat. And who do you think that guy was? Emilio Estevez. The Mighty Duck man, I swear to God, he was there. I was like, "Emilio!"

What to Watch Tonight: The Usual Suspects

Not much on the docket to watch tonight. Personally, I am going to another advance screening tonight (perks of writing a blog). When I do get home I will be watching 'Big Brother.' For those of you who aren't as lucky, here is "what to watch tonight."

Big Brother (CBS)- Okay, so tonight is the POV and I believe an eviction night. With about a week to go, CBS is starting to cram these together. Porsche and Kalia are on the block and both are making half-assed attempts at deals. I say get rid of them both.

Minute to Win It (NBC)- Will someone please get Guy Fieri off television and out of Costco?

Man v. Food Nation (Travel) The Harlem Globetrotters take on the pulled pork "squealer" challenge. I hope one of them starts to throw up into a bucket, but instead pukes confetti. Oh, I miss my childhood. 

Confessions: Animal Hoarding (Animal Planet)- "A woman obsessed with cleaning keeps dead cats in her freezer." Well where else would she keep them? Can have them spoiling before you get a chance to serve them at a bar-b-que.

Rescue Me (FX)- Series finale. This is a show that people have been telling me to watch for years, but I still haven't. Am I glad I followed through with my laziness. 

Netflix: The Usual Suspects- You should have already seen this film by now, but if you haven't then drop everything you are doing and watch it now. Kevin Spacey gives an Oscar winning performance as Verbal Kint, a small time con artist who is involved in a crime, commissioned by mob boss Keyser Soze, gone wrong. Who is Keyser Soze? Well you should know by now. This film came out over 15 years ago.

What to Watch Tonight- It's Labor Day!

Bachelor Pad (ABC)- The contestants pair up into couples. I guess ABC is trying to manufacture relationships now? Oh, wait. That is the entire purpose of the 'Bachelor' series. What is ABC's success ratio? I think the show 'Blind Date' had a better success ratio.

When Pop Culture Saved America: A 9/11 Story (Bio)- This just seems like exploitation of this infamous day.

American Chopper: Junior vs. Senior (Discovery)-Apparently the father/son duo has been feuding for a few years. I liked this show in 2003 when it first aired and it was just 'American Chopper'. Apparently this is a whole different series and the duo is now at each others throats.

Keeping Up With the Kardashians (E!)- "The Proposal." Kris Humphries proposes to Kim. Will she say yes? Oh, how I do hope.


Ridiculousness (MTV)- Rob Dyrdek attempts to rip-off 'Tosh.0' which is just a better copy of 'Web Soup'. I think I will pass considering that the viral videos featured in the promos are old news to anyone with an Internet connection.

Netflix: Spaceballs- This Mel Brooks spoof of 'Star Wars and other sci-fi films is perfect for those who don't want to spend their hard earned dollar on George Lucas newly altered, Blu-Ray release of the 'Star Wars' saga. A couple of more revisions and George Lucas should just rename his saga to 'Spaceballs.'

What to Watch Tonight- I Am Moving so...Your Choice

I am moving this weekend, so I have been packing all day and taking care of things at the new place. Therefore, I have not posted today. I will be finishing up packing for the rest of the night, so go ahead and pick what you want. Here are a few suggestions.

Wipeout (ABC)- This will be on in the background as I pack, but it will probably distract me.

Big Brother (CBS)- This is the only show I will probably watch tonight. Jeff back-doored Dani last night at the POV ceremony, so she is most likely going home. Tonight is a double elimination night, so two people are going home in this one-hour episode.

Louie (FX)- Louie heads to Afghanistan in this one hour episode tonight. I do not know much more about this, but I will catch up with this season when it comes on Netflix.

Project Runway (Lifetime)- The designers have to run one lap around a track, but apparently someone goes down. I don't see how one lap can take somebody down. Also, why are they running on a track? Is this a 'Biggest Loser' crossover?

Netflix: Stripes- This classic comedy stars Bill Murray as a slacker turned Army recruit. Directed by Ivan Reitman and also starring Harold Ramis go ahead and watch this movie again. If you haven't seen this, then you need to put it in your instant queue.

What to Watch Tonight- Big Brother's Puffy Taco

Sorry about the lack of posts today and the timing of them. I am in the process of moving and today was a big day for packing. The summer season is winding down and the fall season is still a few weeks away, so we are in a purgatory of television programming. I will try my hardest to find quality shows for the next few weeks of "What to Watch Tonight," but I can't promise anything. On to the shows.

Big Brother (CBS)- Jeff is the head of household and he has nominated Porsche and Kalia for eviction. Tonight is the POV competition. If you have been following this blog you know I will be watching tonight.

Buried Treasure (FOX)- Series premiere. Former 'Antiques Roadshow' experts Leigh and Leslie Keno (both guys by the way) search through peoples junk in hopes of finding valuables. I made mention of a picking show yesterday and now this? Fox is trying to cash in on the recent success of junk=money shows like 'American Pickers', 'Picker Sisters', 'Storage Wars', 'Pawn Stars', and several other shows on basic cable. I am interested to see if this will catch on to a major broadcast network.

Man v. Food Nation (Travel)- Adam Richman "coaches a retired Navy officer who's trying eat 23 puffy tacos in 90 minutes." What is a puffy taco? It sounds like a sexual innuendo.

Top Chef: Just Desserts (Bravo)- Season premiere. I love 'Top Chef' and I was really jonesing for it this week, but 'Just Desserts' can't satisfy my cooking competition needs. There is no Tom Colicchio, so I just can't do it.

Netflix: The Extra Man- This was a recommendation by my father, but I haven't seen it. He tells me that Kevin Kline puts in some fine acting because he is an "actour." I will check it out soon, but if you do first, post a review under the comments. Also starring Katie Holmes and John C. Reilly

What to Watch Tonight- Butterbean Makes a Good Target

Today has been a busy day, so this will be my last post of the day. Not much to watch tonight, but here is what caught my eye. I will end up watching my DVDs of 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.' If you happen to own these, go ahead and watch them instead.

Take the Money and Run (ABC)- I can't get myself to watch this show. It hasn't caught on, so I doubt it will last past this season. This would probably be a better show if it were about professional purse nappers.

It's Worth What? (NBC)- I think this is a game show of some sorts. At first glance I thought this was a knock off of 'Antiques Roadshow.' I wish it were 'Antiques Roadshow.' Wouldn't that make great primetime television?

G4's Proving Ground (G4)- Tonight Ryan Dunn tries to recreate "the force" from the Star Wars franchise. I could say something real inappropriate about his death, but I will hold back. Although, if Dunn had found a way to recreate the force do you think he shows up to Bam Margera as a spirit like Obi Wan did for Luke?

Big Law: Deputy Butterbean (ID)- 400 pound, former boxer Eric "Butterbean"takes a bite out of crime and many a sandwich. I am sorry. I couldn't resist. Why do police departments allow unqualified celebrities (or quasi-celebrities) to have badges?

Picker Sisters (Lifetime)- Like 'American Pickers,' but with women. I can barely get through an hour of 'American Pickers', so I will pass on 'Picker Sisters'.

Netflix: The Pixar Story- If yesterday's news excited you, then check out 'The Pixar Story.' Pretty cool behind the scenes look at how Pixar started and how they make their award winning movies.

What to Watch Tonight- American Ninja Warrior!

Bachelor Pad (ABC)- The "guys and gals face a synchronized-swimming challenge." Seriously ABC? This is what you are trying to pass as television?
American Ninja Warrior (NBC)- Wow! I didn't know this was on NBC. I love this show. This is the finale in Japan. I have been a huge fan of 'Sasuke' which is basically a four level obstacle course. There has been 26 of these now and every single one has been thrilling.
Project Runway (Lifetime Real Women)- I am a sucker for any reality competition. I am steadily becoming a big fan of this show. Tim Gunn is so fabulous!
HGTV'd (HGTV)- 'HGTV'd' teams up with Ellen Degeneres to make over a military family's home. Are they going to put jeans and a vest on it?
Netflix: Louie (TV Series)- I started watching this today as I promised I would do. Netflix is streaming season one currently, which is 13 episodes. I have caught the first 4 episodes and this is a great way to get invested.

What to Watch Tonight- You Choose. I Will Be Out.

Today has been a slow day with the exception of sports news. This will be the last post of the day because I will be in attendance of the Buccaneers and Patriots preseason game tonight. Without further ado, here is what to watch tonight.

Wipeout (ABC)- I cannot say this enough. If you have time to watch this tonight, do it. It is great television. This is why television is invented. Seriously, go look it up. (Don't. I lied to make a point.)

Big Brother (CBS)- Dani is the HOH and Adam won the Power of Veto. Brendon and Shelly are up for eviction and Dani's target is Brendon. Most would think Brendon is going home, but Shelly is starting to be exposed as a floater who tries to be in everyone's business. I am tired of her shenanigans and I would appreciate it if she was evicted. 

Conan the Barbarian (AMC)- In preparation for the new 'Conan the Barbarian' movie coming out this weekend, check out the original with Arnold Schwarzenegger tonight. Always a classic. 

Wilfred (FX)- I have promised to catch this show. It looks so promising, but I keep forgetting that it is on. 'Wilfred' is based on the Australian series of the same name and stars Jason Gann as the titular character, a dog (that Elijah Wood sees as an Australian man in a dog suit). 

Netflix: Rookie of the Year- Okay, I admit that this movie is not an award winner, but it is a childhood favorite. How could you not enjoy this movie? It stars that kid from American Pie (the one who dated Tara Reid in the movie) as a kid who breaks his arm and can suddenly can throw 90 mph. Also starring Gary Busey and Daniel Stern, this movie plays out every little boy's fantasy. What I failed to realize is that Daniel Stern (Marv from Home Alone) also directed this movie.

What to Watch Tonight-I Love You Sons of Missouri

Big Brother (CBS)- I do not know what happened on Sunday night. I turned on my DVR and it was '20/20' instead of 'Big Brother.' I guess golf went too long. There needs to be a system to update a DVR when this happens. I hate when a network does this. Now I am thrown off for the week. I do know that Dani is the HOH this week and she nominated Shelly and recently returned Brendon.

Sons of Guns (Discovery)- The guys try to put a silencer on a grenade launcher. Why in the name would any civilian need that? Isn't there some organization that can restrict this kind of nonsense?

Man v. Food Nation (Travel)- A local from Dallas tries to eat 5 lbs of Vietnamese pho in 30 minutes. I had to look up what pho was. Turns out it is a type of soup. The 5 lbs seems less impressive. Maybe if the pho contained 5 lbs of rice and noodles. Also, how is Dallas known for its Vietnamese pho?

Truck Stop, Missouri (Travel)- This show is very obviously staged. I guess that really doesn't take away from the show. It is what you would expect of a truck stop show. I am a little confused as why the Travel Channel decided to label it 'Missouri' as if they plan on doing other versions.

Netflix: I Love You Phillip Morris- This is not a movie to watch around people like your mother (my sister tried this). It is a movie about love and discovery. Jim Carrey does a great job as family man turned gay man. Carrey then goes on to perform multiple scams, prison escapes, and love scenes. I do warn you to take heed of my warning if you are planning on watching this with someone more conservative, it is decently graphic in a sexual sense.

What to Watch Tonight-Hobo Chefs

Master Chef (FOX)- Season finale. Like many shows on television, I don't watch this one. If you are going to watch a cooking show competition make it 'Top Chef' instead. I like saying Tom Colicchio. Co-licc-hio.

America's Got Talent (NBC)- Unfortunately they are smart enough to know to steer clear of this show.

Memphis Beat (TNT)- Season finale. To be honest with you, I would probably watch this if Jason Lee was playing Earl from 'My Name is Earl' as a detective. I enjoy a good mustache as the next guy and this is what 'Memphis Beat' is missing.

Top Shot (History)- Nothing like watching a bullet in super slow-mo. I watched this last week, but I am not sure what it's about. I think it's a competition, but everything is so shiny and slow-mo.

Netflix: Hobo with a Shotgun- Do I really need to describe why this movie is great? Seriously, from the title alone you should have already put it on. Still not convinced? Check out the trailer below.

What to Watch Tonight- Kick-Ass DVR

I am straining to pick stuff to watch tonight. I think I will be going to my DVR tonight and catch up on some shows. There is football on tonight, but it is preseason and exciting for about the first ten minutes.

Millionaire Matchmaker (Bravo)- Season premiere. I have been caught watching this with the wife. I cannot stand Patti the "matchmaker." She is superficial and shallow, but she berates her clients for being the same way. She was in a relationship, but now she is newly single. How does this qualify her to be a good matchmaker?

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations (Travel)- Anthony Bourdain is always a entertaining guy. Check this out for an easy to follow program with a affable host.

Pawn Stars (History)- Always a good show. This mostly staged show is good for a few chuckles. The guys don't seem to be as bad this time around. When the show first started, they low-balled everybody. They would act like things weren't as valuable as they were, but now they are more upfront with making a profit.

Teen Wolf (MTV)- Season finale. That came and went. Apart from the trailer I vaguely remember airing a while back, there has been no buzz about this show. I would be surprised to see a second season, but then again MTV is notorious for giving crap a lifespan way longer than what it deserves.

Netflix: Kick-Ass- A solid antihero movie about a group of individuals who fight crime while posing as superheroes. This is one of the better Nic Cage movies of the past 15 years and he could learn from it. Cage's welcome as a Hollywood leading man is worn out. He has become a parody of himself. Cage can rejuvenate his career by sticking to these kind of roles.

What to Watch Tonight-Trainspotting Big Brother

Wipeout (ABC)- You know what the deal is. This is the most enjoyable show of the summer. If you have a pulse, you will laugh. I dare you, nay, defy you to not laugh during this show.

Big Brother (CBS)- If you watched last night you will know that Lawon put himself up for eviction thinking he will gain powers with the "twist." What Lawon doesn't know is that this is not a comic book. He sacrificed himself for nothing and he most likely won't make it back into the house, since he is a floater and can't compete with anyone. If this all confuses you, don't worry. I have been sucked in by this mindless crap.

So You Think You Can Dance (FOX)- Season finale. Someone wins. You heard it here first. If you care about this show, post a recap in the comments.

NFL Football Exhibition: Seahawks at Chargers (ESPN)- NFL football has arrived. Get ready to take a look at two teams who aren't on my radar. I might catch a glimpse of the game tonight, but I doubt it. If anything of importance happens, I will post it tomorrow. I wouldn't hold your breath.

Netflix: Trainspotting- This 1996 British film is based on a novel of the same name. It follows the lives of a group of youthful heroin addicts in Scotland. It stars Ewan McGregor of Star Wars and soothing accents fame. A fellow soothing accent-alum, Kelly Macdonald, also stars. You may remember Macdonald as Irish widow, Margaret Schroeder in the HBO series 'Boardwalk Empire.' Enjoy the trailer for the new season below.

What to Watch Tonight- Crabwalkin'

Big Brother (CBS)- POV competition tonight. Rachel and Jeff are on the block and Kalia just made two enemies. A twist for this week is that whoever gets voted out of the house can compete with another former housemate to get back into the house. This can cause some trouble for Kalia and partner Daniele.

So You Think You Can Dance (FOX)- Part one of the season finale. I do not know who is left or what this show is except for a dance competition. Feel free to review it in the comment section.

Famous Food (VH1)- I think this is about c-list celebrities cooking on show like "Top Chef," but I am not sure and I am too indifferent about it to look it up.

Man v. Food Nation (Travel)- The description for tonight's episode is "a rugby player tries to down 15 wieners in 45 minutes or less." I always thought rugby players were a bit different.

Netflix: The Comedians of Comedy: The Movie- This 2005 follows Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, and Zach Galifianakis on the road on the Comedians of Comedy tour. It's pretty interesting and you can see Zach Galifianakis before he hit the big time. Now for your viewing pleasure, Patton Oswalt's "crabwalkin'."

What to Watch Tonight- Pippa's Thing

Wipeout (ABC)- What can I say. I almost look forward to this show. It makes me feel better about myself when someone else makes acts like a complete idiot.

G4's Proving Ground (G4)- This show is a part 'Mythbusters', part 'Jackass.' This was what Ryan Dunn was working on before he killed himself in a car wreck. Tonight's episode is about the 'Mortal Kombat' video game. 

Pawn Stars (History)- This show is so staged, but I still have it set to record on my dvr. They have officially sold out. I just saw a commercial where the guys of 'Pawn Stars' were promoting Stacker 2 energy drink. I don't blame them though. By the way, their store isn't open 24/7 like the sign says. The showroom is open from 9-9 and after that it is just a window where you can pawn small stuff or pay off loans.

Crazy About Pippa (TLC)- This show is about Pippa Middleton, sister of Kate. Coming off of the recent success of Pippa looking hot at"The Royal Wedding," this is a one-hour special on Pippa. That is about all I know. 

Netflix: The Thing- There is a preview going around the Internet of the new "The Thing." It is a remake of the 1982 John Carpenter film, which is a remake of the 1950's film. Check it out.

What to Watch Tonight- Superheroes and Trash

We are getting closer to the start of fall programming!


Bachelor Pad (ABC)- Season premiere. I don't watch these shows, so if anyone can clue me in I will post it on the site. Seriously, anything you say I will post. I don't care enough about this show to fact check.

Hoarders (A&E)- Saw a preview for this the other night and it looks fantastic. An older lady is hoarding in 16 lockers at a storage unit. I think this calls for a crossover with "Storage Wars." I think it'd be great to watch those guys bid on this crap.

Blazing Saddles (AMC)- A classic and a favorite of mine. Half of my jokes when I was twelve came from this movies. Come to think of it, not much has changed.

Superheroes (HBO)- This documentary is about 'Real Life Superheroes' also called 'Extreme LARPing.' When I used to do this as a kid I would get chased off and now these people are getting their own movie? I was ahead of my time.

Netflix: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring- After watching "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" this past weekend I was reminded of the brilliance of Andy Serkis. This is the only LOTR on Netflix, but it is a good reminder of a great character that he brought to life, Gollum.

What to Watch Tonight- Get Out of the House

If today seems really familiar, get over it. It is the summer and I am not working with much. Go see a movie, watch some sports, or go out to dinner. Do whatever you want, I am not the boss of you. If you choose to watch television tonight here are the highlights of what is on tonight.

Wipeout (ABC)- I have written about 'Wipeout' almost every time. It is great and never lets me down. I promise that if you are a red-blooded American, you will love this.

Big Brother (CBS)- Tonight we find out who goes home. In case you aren't caught up; Daniele is the 'Head of Household', Brendon and Jordan are on the block, and everyone has to decide who to send home. This episode is really a set up for next week (according to me).

Shark City (Discovery)- Scientist study sharks. This is everything on "Shark Week." The saving grace of this particular show is that Andy Samberg will be giving some insights on what is happening.

Netflix: Shutter Island- This is my favorite Leonardo DiCaprio movie of 2010. Seriously, how did "Inception," get so much more buzz? A Scorsese film about a U.S. Marshall investigating a disappearance of a criminally insane patient. Also staring Mark Ruffalo and Ben Kingsley, this film had me thinking after the movie much more than "Inception." Go watch this.

What to Watch Tonight- Always Look on the Bright Side of Life

I guaranteed a post earlier today and have I delivered. Well, I did post earlier, but I can't touch on the quality. You be the judge. 

Big Brother (CBS)- I didn't used to be a fan of this show, but I was sucked in last year. This season is half all stars and half new players. It is the show that I love to hate. I am rooting for soft hearted, rocker Adam. 

Storage Wars (A&E)- This show is a guilty pleasure. I love to hate on Dave and Barry is an affable rich guy. I don't care what they are buying and subsequently lying about how much they'll get for it, I still enjoy this show.

Monty Python's Life of Brian (IFC)- A classic Monty Python movie. I still remember my dad introducing me to Monty Python when I was a wee-lad. I hope my children will be as accepting to the Brit-humour as I was.

Man v. Food Nation (Travel)- I guess Adam Richman's doctor told him to lay off the food. I haven't caught very much of "Food Nation," but I guess Richman has convinced locals to eat in his place for a free t-shirt. I am glad Richman is no longer competing. I feel like he would lose the easiest of challenges. I mean for God's sake, he had two bites left on his first omelet challenge. What a joke.

Netflix: Dead Alive- This Peter Jackson film from 1992 is a cult classic. Take some time to enjoy this over-the-top splatterfest including such classic scenes as the lawnmower weaponization. At the very least go youtube that scene.
